Executive Administrator, Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC)

Houston, TX

Overview

A leading national platform for Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs) is seeking a highly skilled and clinically focused RN/Surgery Center Administrator to manage one of its key multi-specialty facilities. This facility, located in the North Houston, Texas area, is equipped with 4 Operating Rooms and 2 Procedure Rooms, specializing in Gastrointestinal (GI), Pain Management, and Colorectal procedures.

This is an Executive-level, full-time position responsible for the complete operational, clinical, and financial performance of the center.

Core Responsibilities and Expectations

The Administrator is responsible for directing, coordinating, and controlling all aspects of the facility's operations. The primary goal is to efficiently provide surgical services that exceed customer expectations and drive improvement in both clinical and financial performance.

1. Strategic Leadership and Governance

  • Serve as the key liaison between the Governing Board, the Medical Staff, and all departments.

  • Report pertinent activities to the Governing Board at regular intervals.

  • Develop, monitor, and control the operations budget and capital budget .

  • Oversee the management of the facility partnership as outlined in the governing agreement.

  • Lead discussions on operational and financial performance during corporate review calls.

2. Clinical and Quality Management

  • Ensure compliance with government regulatory agencies (e.g., CMS) and accrediting bodies (e.g., AAAHC, Joint Commission).

  • Work in conjunction with the Medical Director and Medical Executive Committee to evaluate and develop new surgical services .

  • Manage all clinical departments (nursing, central supply, medical records, etc.) and supervise contracted services (laboratory, radiology, biomedical engineering).

  • Develop, evaluate, and promote the implementation of a continuous quality improvement program and infection control program.

  • Collaborate with the Medical Director in the review and revision of the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations .

3. Financial and Business Operations

  • Establish competitive pricing for procedures based on cost analysis and local market standards.

  • Develop, monitor, and control the purchasing plan, ensuring compliance with group purchasing initiatives.

  • Closely monitor variations in financial performance to maintain strong cash flow.

  • Negotiate and control all external contracts with ancillary services and physicians.

  • Develop and implement a sales/marketing plan and lead the facility’s sales team.

4. Personnel Administration and Relationship Building

  • Manage all exempt and non-exempt employees, ensuring sound principles of practice and fairness.

  • Review employee performance evaluations, and approve disciplinary action, hiring, and termination of personnel.

  • Develop employee productivity analysis (staff tracker) and assure efficiency of staff levels.

  • Foster positive work relationships among all departments and promote strong relations between employees and practitioners.

  • Process the credentialing of practitioners for the facility.

Candidate Profile

This role requires an individual who is a strong, clinically experienced leader with a high level of engagement and a growth mindset .

Required Qualifications

  • RN (Registered Nurse) license is required.

  • Experience: 2+ to 5 years of recent, relevant leadership experience.

  • Background: Must have strong clinical background combined with Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) leadership experience or direct Acute Care Hospital Operating Room (OR) leadership/Director experience .

  • Skills: Proven ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with physicians and facility staff.

  • Education: Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree.
