Position Summary
The lab of Dr. Jae-Sung Kim, PhD, in the Department of Surgery at WashU in St. Louis is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to join our research team focused on ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury in livers. Specifically, the Kim lab investigates the mechanisms behind steatosis-mediated increase in hepatic I/R injury to develop novel therapeutic strategies to improve liver function after liver resection and transplant.
We use multidisciplinary approaches including in vitro and in vivo models of I/R injury, biochemical and genetic analysis, transcriptomics, imaging with live cells and tissues to understand complicated cellular mechanisms of I/R injury in the liver.
This position offers the opportunity to conduct basic and translational research and would assist the candidate to generate productive scientific contributions and to achieve career goals in a collaborative research environment.

Trains under the supervision of a faculty mentor including (but not limited to):
- Conduct experiments with rodent livers and cells.
- Maintain transgenic mouse colony.
- Collect and analyze data.
- Present data at national meetings.
- Write a manuscript.
- Train junior staffs in the lab.
Working Conditions: This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
Salary Range: Base pay is commensurate with experience.
