Overview

We are seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) , sometimes referred to as a S urgical Tech or OR Tech. The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) in our operating room, assist s surgeons, nurses, and other surgical team members before, during, and after surgical procedures. Surgical Techs primary goal is to help ensure safe, efficient, and sterile surgical environments.

Shift’s Available : Varied

Employment Type : Per Diem

Hours: 12- hour shift

Location: Dallas Regional Medical Center – Mesquite, TX

Responsibilities

(This position is staffed in the Labor and Delivery unit)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

• Preoperative Preparation - Set up the operating room by sterilizing and arranging instruments supplies and equipment while preparing patients for surgery through proper positioning and sterile draping

• Intraoperative Support - Assist during surgery by passing instruments maintaining a sterile field and anticipating the surgical team’s needs while tracking instruments and sponges

• Postoperative Duties - Support postoperative care by applying dressings transporting patients to recovery and cleaning and restocking the operating room

• Safety and Compliance - Follow strict infection control protocols ensure safe handling of specimens and maintain compliance with hospital and regulatory standards

• Collaboration and Communication - Collaborate with surgeons , nurses , anesthesiologists and sterile processing staff while communicating effectively in high-pressure situations

Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers . You must have: 

• Graduate of an accredited educational program for surgical technologists with a Certified Surgical Tech (CST) Certification upon hire required and maintained for employment a. Non-certified Techs in surgical technology position in a health care facility before September 1, 2009, will have one year from date of hire to obtain a Certified Surgical Tech (CST) Certification.
• Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.

Additional Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Experience in scrubbing minor and major procedures in the generalized surgical specialties, General, Urology, Eye (cataracts), Gynecology, Minor Vascular and Hand Specialty. 

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:

• Experience in scrubbing minor procedures in the specialty surgical areas.
