Overview
The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) works closely with business and technical teams to gather, analyze, and document requirements for addressing organizational challenges through technology solutions. This role captures functional and technical needs, ensuring alignment with system capabilities and business objectives. Deliverables may include requirement specifications, integration mappings, business process and data flow models, business requirements documents (BRDs), requirements traceability matrices, and user stories with acceptance criteria.

The BSA may also support testing activities, validate deliverables, create system training materials, and translate technical concepts into clear language for a wide range of audiences. They are expected to stay current on industry trends and apply best practices to improve processes, reporting, and technology use.

Required Experience & Skills

• 5+ years of IT experience in healthcare, managed care reporting, or a related field

• Strong SQL programming skills (MS SQL Server/Azure platforms)

• Knowledge of data warehouse concepts, data structures, and reporting

• Familiarity with reporting best practices, workflows, policies, and systems in healthcare settings

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an understanding of statistical methods

• Ability to work independently with minimal direction and manage timelines effectively

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work across multiple levels of the organization

• Ability to translate business needs into reports, views, and BI query objects

• Proficiency in metadata management and analysis

Preferred Experience

• Experience with Epic Tapestry Clarity reporting (certification a plus)

• Programming experience with SAS, R, Python, or Stata for data management and analysis
